Savannah Banks is a graduate of Kennesaw State University where she earned her B.A. in Dance and Minor in Political Science. Before attending KSU, Savannah began her dance training under Jean Weaver at Dance Arts Studio in Macon, Georgia and was a member of the Middle Georgia Youth Ballet for four years. At sixteen she was accepted into Atlanta Ballet’s Pre-Professional program where she trained for two years and presented two original works at the Cobb Energy Center.
During her time at KSU, Savannah founded the KSU Dance Honor Society and served as President for two years. As president, she helped produce and put on the annual Choreolab incubator weekend for three years, during which she presented two original works. Savannah had the pleasure of performing with the KSU Dance Company and was selected to present her Senior Capstone Project at the 2023 Student Dance Concert. Savannah was awarded the Outstanding Citizenship Award and recognized for her continued involvement in the dance community at KSU.
Savannah was selected by Dance Canvas for their Choreographic Career Development Initiative. Through this opportunity, she presented an original work, which premiered at the Rialto Center for the Arts. In addition to her stage work, she is also a dance filmmaker. Most recently, she shot and directed a film that was presented at the Hamilton Arts Festival and Atlanta Film Festival. She has taught at many studios in metro Atlanta and is proud to serve as a teacher at the Gwinnett School of Dance and the RISPA Performing Arts School. In addition to being a teacher, she also serves as office assistant and social media manager at GSD. Savannah is passionate about passing the joy of dance to the next generation and pushing boundaries through the ephemeral medium of movement.
